Below are pictures of Bell Tower Schoolhouse before construction. This building was the old Curves Building in Marshfield. I will post pictures periodically. In the meantime I'll tell you a little about how we came up with the name "Bell Tower Schoolhouse."

Three years ago I began to plan opening a preschool. Initially it was going to be in my home and I would have up to 10 3-5 year olds. We had a room downstairs in our basement that had been a bedroom that we fixed up as the "classroom." I built a website, purchased a curriculum and named it Gingerbread Lane Preschool.

While in the process of getting licensed, we found out that we would need to do some extensive changes to our home to be in compliance because of our built-in pool. After discussing it, we felt it would be best to rent or purchase a building to start the preschool business in. We looked at several places to rent and decided that we would be better off purchasing something and it would be an investment rather than throwing our money away to rent. After negotiating on one building and silent bidding on another, we found this cute commercial building nestled in the heart of the Marshfield school zone.

I decided that since it was centrally located to the schools, I would also offer before and after school programs. With that decision, we would have to change the name from Gingerbread Lane Preschool to something that school age students wouldn't mind telling their friends they were attending;) That's when we began racking our brains, searching for the perfect name.

Several months later, I told my husband (Ty) that I wanted to put an old bell on top of the schoolhouse that we had placed on a pole on our cattle ranch in Wyoming, then on our farm when we moved here to Missouri. Ty offered to build me a bell tower for my bell and WALA!! It hit us...Bell Tower Schoolhouse:) Now you know the story behind the name of our schoolhouse!

Beginning construction today on our addition! We are adding a kitchen/cafeteria, multi-purpose room, boys and girls bathrooms and storage. We will also be changing the look of the building to combine the old schoolhouse with red trim and an old bell that has been in our family for several years. It will be in a modern bell tower to bring in the concept of 21st century learning with the building color being gray to represent technology. I will be posting photos as we progress. My husband and son are the builders. Here we go!
